This monument, which has achieved great fame thanks to a programme on French television of the same name, is an absolute must in the La Rochelle landscape. Unfortunately, the interior of Fort Boyard is not accessible but many port companies offer excursions near the fort so you can best admire this incredible building. 

A guided cruise with a view of the islands – Île d'Aix, Île de Ré and Île d'Oléron – leaves from La Rochelle’s Old Port and lasts approximately 2 hours.
